Chasing the Night ◆ Milky Way & Dark Sky Photography
A night spent under a star filled sky is like meditation. The Milky Way galaxy, constellations like Orion and the The Big Dipper, and meteors streaking across the sky are great companions at midnight. There is a saying in our national parks and monuments… Half the park is after dark; so get out there and enjoy the night sky.

Rocky Mountains High ◆ Colorado Photography
Though Chris travels regularly across the American West and High Plains, he calls Colorado home. He lives where the Colorado Plateau — which spans the states of Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico — crashes into the Western Slope of the Rocky Mountains. There may be no better backyard anywhere.

Carved By Time ◆ Antelope Canyon & Beyond
The slot canyons of the Colorado Plateau, especially those carved deeply into Navajo Sandstone, are one of the best examples of nature’s artist talents. The geology is fascinating, but it is just a side show to the sculpted beauty of these canyons… no two alike.

The Hidden Life of Trees ◆ Fine Art Photography
Trees are life. They are the planet’s lungs. Threes are remarkable, spiritual beings. In Japan, forest bathing brings renewal to one’s life. Take a walk in a forest and you cannot help but make a few friends along the way… these trees represent some of the friends that Chris has made along the way.
This collection of fine art nature and landscape photography showcases some of Chris Eaton’s favorite trees and forests. Often taken when he was the only one around to witness the hidden life of these trees. American Southwest Fine Art Photography
The American Southwest is a vast and sweeping place. Geographically speaking, it can be as large or small as the traveler’s imagination. For Chris Eaton, the Southwest represents the deserts of Southern California, Arizona, and Nevada; it spans the Basin and Range; it stretches across the Colorado Plateau into Colorado and New Mexico. The American Southwest is a varied landscape of deserts and mesas and canyonlands and mountain islands. Life is always hard for flora and fauna found in the American Southwest… that is what makes it so beautiful.
This collection of fine art nature and landscape photography showcases some of the best landscapes in the American Southwest — both well known favorites and places you won’t find easily on a map. Prints of the photography in this gallery are available to order through the selections offered on each photograph’s page. Death Valley Sublime ◆ Heart of the Mojave Desert
Death Valley National Park is one of the most sublime landscapes in the American West. Part of the Basin and Range Provence, the land has been stretched and wrinkled into a series of deep valleys and high mountain ranges. It is the hottest place on earth, and yet there is always a place of respite at higher elevations. This is a hard landscape… brutal heat and sun, cold winters, barren landscapes of sand dunes and salt flats, the wind, and the occasional flood. Nothing is easy here except for its sublime beauty.
This collection of fine art nature and landscape photography showcases the sublime beauty of Death Valley. Prints of the photography in this gallery are available to order through the selections offered on each photograph’s page. Golden Hour ◆ Fine Art Sunrise & Sunset Photography
Golden Hour is that period of the day when the sun is low in the sky or just below the horizon. The quality of the natural light around sunrise and sunset is softer and warmer; this is why we like to sit on rocks and watch the sun rise and set. For Chris Eaton, Golden Hour also includes what is referred to as Blue Hour when this soft light cools as it approaches twilight. Take a seat and enjoy the show.
This collection of fine art nature and landscape photography showcases Chris Eaton’s best golden hour photography. Prints of the photography in this gallery are available to order through the selections offered on each photograph’s page. Intimate Landscapes
Eliot Porter is the grand master of the Intimate Landscape, and he has been an inspiration to Chris Eaton’s landscape photography almost from the time he picked up a camera. Chris is always walking into the forest and deep into the canyons looking for intimate moments of nature; the type of moments you usually cannot find scouting through the windshield of your car.

Abstract Landscape Photography
Using shape, form, color and line, abstract art creates a perception of the world that may or may not be independent of the real world. Abstract landscape photography does much the same thing, but it is always grounded in the real world even if, at the level of the photograph’s representation, it does not always appear to be what it is. From lichen to tree bark to water reflections to rusty and weather-worn detritus on the landscape and beyond, Chris is always looking for an abstract way to view the world.

Panoramic Landscape Photo Prints
Panoramic photography serves to purposes. Panoramic photographs often show the grandeur of a landscape by opening up the width of the composition to include a more sweeping viewpoint. But, panoramic photography is also great for isolating intimate landscape scenes or showing the scale of a tall landscape such as in a canyon or intimate features such as trees.
This collection of fine art nature and landscape photography one of Chris Eaton’s favorite view of the world… Panoramic. Monochrome ◆ Fine Art Black & White Photography
There is an old adage in photography… Light illuminates, but shadows define. This is most apparent in black and white photography. When color is eliminated from an image, the monochromatic photograph reduces the world to light and shadows, defining it at its core being.
This collection of fine art photography features Chris Eaton’s black and white view on the world we live in. Prints of the photography in this gallery are available to order through the selections offered on each photograph’s page. If you are interested in a size or print medium not shown, please don’t hesitate to contact Chris directly for a custom quote, or for a volume discount. High Plains Drifting ◆ Big Storms & Big Skies
The High Plains of the Central United States is an open landscape of wheat and corn, cows and coyotes, prairie grasses and rolling hills, wide open spaces and big skies; and, occasionally, a town or homestead. The solitude of the landscape is photogenic enough, but when you add the drama of a rumbling thunderstorms and spaceship cloud structures, the combination is sublime. Chris Eaton is not a storm chaser; he is a photographer that seeks out amazing storms. You will not find selfies with tornados here, only amazing nature and landscapes that can only be found on the High Plains.
This collection of fine art photography showcases Chris Eaton’s travels across the High Plains of the United States. Monsoon Madness ◆ Thunderstorms of the Southwest
Monsoon Season in the American Southwest not only adds visual drama to the already stunning landscape, it is also an important source of moisture for the deserts and mountain islands. As moisture is pulled northwest from the Gulf of Mexico and the occasional hurricane in the Pacific Ocean, it feeds the warm updrafts of the sun heated landscape creating dramatic thunderstorms, Often these storms are short-lived and may only last minutes, but with enough convective energy, they can last for hours.
This collection of fine art photography showcases Chris Eaton’s efforts to document the drama of Monsoon thunderstorms in the American Southwest. The ancestors of today’s Native Americans left a storied trail across the landscape. From petroglyphs and pictographs to cliff dwellings and prominent pueblos, these footprints. Detritus ◆ Fine Art Photography of Abandoned America
Detritus (noun): a product of disintegration, destruction, or wearing away; miscellaneous remnants. The American landscape is littered with detritus. From abandoned homesteads to weather-worn and rusty mining ruins to crumbling Ancestral Pueblos, the remnants of what came before have become one with the land; slowly, the land absorbs them and they become inseparable.

Thunder & Lightning ◆ Electrifying Fine Art Landscape Photography
There is no photographic subject more exhilarating than a thunderstorm. But photographing thunder and lightning is not for the faint of heart. It requires an understanding of weather and thew dynamics of the atmosphere. It requires your absolute full attention. And, because of the threat of a bolt out of the blue as a large positive cloud to ground strike is called, there is no way to be full safe when photographing lightning… You can only be unsafe, or if you are not paying attention or don’t understand how a thunderstorm works: stupid.
This collection of fine art nature and landscape photography showcases electrifying . Along the Oregon Coast
Every small town along the Oregon Coast has a bookstore. No, this is not a gallery of bookstore photos, but that very fact helps tell the story of the Oregon Coast where no large cities are found and every mile of beach and rocky outcropping is open to the public. Late Fall through early Spring is the stormy season, which makes it the perfect time for Chris Eaton to explore the narrow strip of land between the Pacific Ocean and the Oregon Coast Range of mountains.
This collection of fine art nature and landscape photography showcases the dramatic coastline of Oregon along the Pacific Ocean. Portraits of Wildlife... and Some Not So Wild Life
Wildlife Photography is an art unto itself. It requires multiple disciplines to master from wildlife biology to geography to meteorology to geology and more. Chris Eaton does not think of himself as a wildlife photographer per se, but a travel, nature, and andscape photographer that loves the opportunity to photograph wildlife when it presents itself. Sometimes those opportunities are not of wildlife itself, but of a more domesticated yet hardy form like that lives on the the same landscapes.
This collection of fine art nature and landscape photography showcases Chris Eaton’s occasional encounters with wildlife, and not so wild life. Prints of the photography in this gallery are available to order through the selections offered on each photograph’s page. Badlands Fine Art Landscape Photography
The Badlands… it is a phrase that conjures up an image of a stark and dramatic landscape. Badlands are a area of dry, yet heavily eroded sedimentary rocks, often full of colorful elements and minerals such as iron, magnesium, and salts. Badlands are a place of hoodoos and toadstool formations and steep slopes and buttes and gullies and deep ravines. The form that a badlands takes is usually defined by a combination of the sedimentary rocks found there and how dramatic the thunderstorms can be.
This collection of fine art nature and landscape photography showcases the dramatic terrain unique to badlands. Prints of the photography in this gallery are available to order through the selections offered on each photograph’s page.
